How it works

Five steps, and most of them are ours

  1. Check your venue. A few minutes. We ask about your door policy, your wall and your power.
  2. We confirm eligibility. We check your address against federal, state and local rules. If it does not qualify, we tell you, with the reason.
  3. We agree the placement and the terms. Where the machine goes, your share, the payout schedule and how either side can end it — in writing.
  4. We handle licensing, then install. We deliver, mount, stock and switch it on.
  5. We run it. You get paid. We restock and service it. Sales are reported and your share is paid on the agreed schedule.

Is anyone under 21 ever allowed inside? Federal rules only allow tobacco-product vending where people under 21 are not present or permitted to enter at any time. “21+ after 9pm” does not meet that test. Neither does a bar that serves all ages at lunch.

Nothing for the machine, the installation, the stock or the servicing. Your venue supplies the electricity, which is roughly 50 watts.

It depends on your foot traffic, your hours, where the machine sits and how easy it is to buy the same thing nearby. The revenue share page has a scenario tool that runs on your own numbers rather than on someone else's averages.

A percentage of the net profit on your machine — not of its sales — paid on a fixed schedule. The rate, what it applies to and the schedule are all written into your venue agreement before anything is installed.

In New Mexico, Afterwrk does. We are the tobacco retailer and we hold the New Mexico retailer license for your address. You lease us the wall space — or sublease it, if you rent your premises — which makes you a landlord in this arrangement rather than a tobacco retailer. We confirm the position for your address before proposing anything.

Federal rules restrict tobacco-product vending machines to facilities where people under 21 are not present or permitted to enter at any time. State and local requirements can add restrictions or rule a placement out entirely, so eligibility is decided address by address.

Nothing to run it: no selling, no stocking, and no ID checks at the machine, which verifies age itself. What does stay with your team is the venue's own 21+ door policy, which has to hold at all times and is what makes the placement eligible in the first place. We also ask that the machine sits where someone can see it.

About two feet of wall, a standard electrical outlet within reach, and a position visible to staff or security. It has cellular built in, so it does not depend on your Wi-Fi.

We are based in Albuquerque, and New Mexico is our home market. Arizona law limits tobacco vending machines to bars, and we review Arizona venues by address. We are not placing machines in Nevada yet.
